These are called bouquet jewels, they are little light floral picks that go into your bouquet. These particular ones are snowflakes but I've seen everything from butterflies to monograms. I'm wanting the snowflakes. The problem is they are STUPID REDICULOUSLY expensive (15$ a pop) and being the clever person I am I figure I can make something that would work.
In original discussions with Melissa, the florist to the stars, we thought we'd find a pin closer to the season and turn it into a pick. well, it's that time of year and I've found loads of pins, but they are SO frigin heavy and still about 8-12$ a pop. I may end up doing that still and making a skewer pick (thoughts on that Melissa??).
Or do you guys have any ideas? I'm crafty, I can make just about anything. and I have the time as all other projects (except the painted aisle runner & the bouquet wrap ala baseball stitching) are done.
HELP! Please! oh and here's a treat for you, see those bright green/chartruese orchids in the above picture, we're getting some. ;) oh it makes me giddy! (only small ones, if they're available, you just never know, do you like my disclaimer?)

I made some type of bouquet jewels- I used pearl beads and some sort of heavy wire. They turned out fairly good and only cost a couple of dollars for all of them. I think I got the wire at Michaels.
I think we need to look again at those barrettes. Surely we can find some cheap ones at Claire's or Fred Meyer or something. I'll be in Wednesday night. I can look on Thursday after I pick up the flowers.
