Our retreat from all things wedding...

Keith and I left the wedding and headed up to a little place I found on the internet called Skagit Bay Hideaway. It's up just outside of LaConner (over the bridge, onto the reservation and then down by the water), we drove up and arrived in town right close to 7pm and headed onto the bridge where we were supposed to call our hostess to let them know we were close.

When we got onto the bridge we looked down into the channel to see the annual LaConner Christmas ship parade. There were probably 40 boats, all decorated with lights, going from the marina, up to shelter bay and then back. It was amazing! We actually turned around a couple times to go over the bridge to see them. A parade just for us!

We met Earlene at the townhouse, got checked in, took in a few bags (mind you we were still in a wedding dress and a tux!) and headed in to LaConner for our 7:30 reservation at the primerib and seafood house in LaConner. Keith and I were both starving, you just don't get to eat at your own wedding (even though the food looked amazing!). We got lots of looks in our get ups, someone actually asked why we were so dressed up. dorks. They gave us a table right at the window and we had shrimp and prime rib and they were so nice and sent us home with a special dessert (chocolate mousse in glass champagne flutes!) We left around 9pm and headed back to the townhouse exhausted!

We got to the room, unloaded a few more things, took a look around and headed up to the hot tub. I have never had a more relaxing time in my life. My feet were killing me from the really cute yet completely impractical shoes I had been wearing all day and we had both been just running all weekend so it was nice to have a bottled water, eat our chocolate mousse and just relax for a while in the hot tub.

So the place... It's a two story suite, the main floor has a big cushy living room with a reading area, a fireplace, a big comfy couch and then a little area for the dining room table (bistro set) that is all set up for your breakfast in the morning. It also has a HUGE green slate tiled bathroom with a shower that has 6 sprays, two upper and 4 wall sprays (I think I took the longest shower on record getting all those bobby pins and hairspray out of my hair!) a beautiful painted sink and lots of fun things to try in the shower. The main floor also has a galley kitchen with a cute fridge, coffee grinder and brewer (while not coffee drinkers we both LOVE the smell and made a pot at about 6:30am to wake us up a little) lots of dishes and a microwave.
They leave your breakfast for you in the fridge, with instructions on how to warm it up for the next morning so you can do breakfast on your own. It was lovely! We had green chile, sage sausage and cheese egg dishes (in the cutest red heart ramekins!) a fruit plate with pineapple, kiwi and pomegranate seeds and pumpkin bread and granola, we were not wanting for any more treats!

The upstairs has a big bedroom with a overstuffed queen size bed and a closet with robes and wraps for the hot tub. Out on the deck (attached to the bedroom) is a private hot tub where we spent some time looking up at the stars through the trees and out at the water. it really is an AMAZING view!

We had an amazing time, nice break from reality. Makes me want to get away a little more often. No tv, no responsibilities, no plans, just down time.

Look how rested we look! what a perfect trip!
