Luck is just not on my side this week... Yesterday morning when I woke up to go in for my biopsy I had a stuffy nose. by the end of the day I had a full blown cold. My nose is running, I'm sneezing and coughing. good times. Even better that every sneeze and cough makes me SORE! The biopsy didn't hurt as much as it bruised me up and it's not pain but the most sore I've ever been. Imagine the worst deepest bruise you've ever had, well I have three of them. They aren't cute, I'm not feeling cute. I'd really like a shower and some makeup right now. ;)
Yesterday was a long day. Today is better, I'm just sleeping like crazy. I can't tell if it's the biopsy or the cold. or both.
Yesterday started early, we went to my appointment at 7:45am, checked in and the nurse took me in to the dressing room. I changed and locked all my stuff up and went in to an exam room to get my temp taken and my blood pressure checked. Janelle the nurse then took me into the procedure room, it was a lightly lit ultrasound room. Nothing scary, they could use some art on the ceilings though! You stare at a white ceiling the whole time. The doctor came in, she was GORGEOUS, very nice. answered more questions about what the local would be like. we joked around a little and then got to business.
I'll spare you the graphic details but they give you a local which is small shots, then larger shots, then even larger shots all to numb the space they'll be working in. I had three seperate procedures done. She started with the big one on my left, numbed it and then took the biopsy tool and took three samples. We discussed how she was trying to minimize the bleeding and swelling. She did the other two procedures with the last one being the pain as it was in the middle of a very vascular area (more things for her to navigate around) but she did great. she also put three clips (markers) in to the masses to mark where they were for the future.
I then had to go in and have a mammogram on both of the girls (this time not so bad since they were numb!) to make sure the markers were in the right spot and everything had gone well.
Janelle then took me in and helped me get dressed and put the ice packs on and mummied me in with a huge ace bandage that had to stay on for 24 hours (compression is our friend!)
Keith and Mom were there waiting for me when I came out and took me home and yesterday I slept and laid around most of the day.
I'm not really in pain, I'm just uncomfortable. movement isn't fun. I'll be very glad to have the bruising and swelling go away.
I get my results tomorrow at 2pm. I'm terrified. I know I'm supposed to be trusting that everything will be ok but my brain is just going to worst case scenerio. Yesterday was the start of Breast Cancer awareness month. how very appropriate.
Please pray for some peace for me and for good news. We're hoping that these are just fibrous masses and nothing to worry about.
