Family fun night

We are not the traditional nuclear family that I always thought I would have but you know what. I wouldn't trade it.

Keith and I have both been married before (the gasps!) We both were biblically in the right and we both went through a REALLY tough time dealing with the failure of our respective relationships. I didn't know him them but he definitely knew me during mine. It's a LONG LONG story that someday will be told when it isn't as painful. It's still painful. But anyway...Keith and his ex-wife Marina have a WONDERFUL kiddo who I've known since she was 2, I babysat her once in a while before I was divorced and once divorced it was Mikayla on Saturdays that kept me from a lonely day to think about things so we're tight. I'd watch her all day and she'd watch me back. I swear.

When Keith and I started having feelings for each other it was Mikayla that we thought of first. I remember him asking her if he could date me and she told him no way. well that put a chill on things for a while until we got her more warmed up to the idea. It took a while for her to be ok with sharing her dad but I think she doesn't have to share him too much. Daddy will always be wrapped around her finger.

So the fun part of all of this for me is that Keith's ex wife and I get along fabulously, we love to all go out together with the kiddo and do fun things, it's as normal as it gets for Mikayla but we definitely get some strange looks from people. Nothing like bringing your two Mom's to basketball.

Marina and I took the kiddo to the fair, we've had Marina come to the church halloween festival, bowling, christmas eve service, my family LOVES her, and I think she even likes them back!

So tonight Marina is taking Mikayla to the Hannah Montana movie and then we're ALL going to dinner at Azteca, then to Steve and Barry's (the coolest clothing store ever considering I can get a sweater for $8.58 and it's even flattering) I'm totally excited to hear how the week went, talk about valentines, all the family stuff that most of you get to hear about all week, we catch up on weekends, it's where the weekend family meets the weekday family. In an ideal world we'd get a meal together every weekend to catch up but lately we've been hit or miss. It's something to try for.

I can't wait to see all of them! tonight is going to be a BLAST!
