Memorial not Funeral

I went to the most amazing Memorial Service ever yesterday. Why would I be excited about a memorial service you say? Because of this. This service was for a dear family friend a true man of God who lived his life in an exemplary way. His family and friends (me included) had the pleasure of honoring him yesterday and the day was just fantastic. It was wonderful to see his family pull together and mourn while celebrating his life and eternal life. This man modeled Christ by being a true friend to all. There were no strangers, there was no one "not good enough" to share a moment with, he worked at building relationships with his family and those he came into contact with and he shared his faith without reserve. He was not too embarrassed to tell you that Jesus came and died for you. He stood up for his faith and lived his life to follow his Lord and Savior and he left a legacy for his family and friends.

I was honored to have known him and thank God for the wisdom that he shared with me. I cherish the funny times we all had camping and all around spending time with he and his family. I remember very vividly when I was working for homegrocer.com having quite a few conversations with him (he worked for 40 years for a LARGE grocery chain) about the business model and if it would really hold up and quite frankly, "how the heck are you guys going to make money?" and well, he was right. Not a year later our doors had closed. Oh the days where I thought I knew everything! That and he was about the only one that could really prank my dad GOOD and as a kid, that's REALLY funny.

Yesterday was a great reminder of living a Christ centered life and the blessings you are and receive from following our Savior. It was such a blessing to hear stories told from so many people about their dealings with him! I thought my memories were funny!

Isn't it a blessing to know people like that and be able to celebrate their life when they have gone on to check out their hevenly mansion before us?

his wife actually made the comment that it's a great thing that he went before her because he'll know his way around and since he knows her so well she's sure he'll have painted the walls of the mansion cause she hates white walls. very very cute.

About the walls NOT being white. Joyce had painted every wall in every house--and even some walls in their kids' houses. Andy had never lifted a paint brush!
