Time at the farm

Been to the farm lately? Mikayla and I did! At the Childrens Museum we spent some SERIOUS time at the farm/produce stand. We milked a cow, rode a horse, rode a tractor and learned some math. Oh yes, math can be fun. We proved it.

The produce stand: you have many choices of fruits and veggies and then this sign and scale. You have to figure out How much your produce weighs and then how much the produce is per pound THEN how much the produce you have will cost.

I had so much fun working through the math with her. I of course picked the even numbered produce (lettuce 25cents per pound, tomatoes 50cents) so the math problems were a little easier. This was all new for her. Weight, price, etc. Now we get to practice at the grocery store!

The egg factory! A whole wall of these tube thingies, you make a track for a ball that starts up at the top, trying to get it in the chicken nests.
