Happy Birthday Pike Place Market!

Happy Birthday Pike Place Market! 100 years! not too shabby!

I've come to start calling it my market. I don't really get to lay claim to it but I work under it and get to walk through it NUMEROUS times a day. I remember when I started here, that was a big draw to me taking this job! I love the market, it's quirky, dirty, beautiful. I used to come with my friend Leah in high school because there was a fantastic bead store in the shops underneath, loved it. Then in my adult years I would sneak down on a Saturday morning once in a great while and get some fresh foods and FLOWERS! always had to come down for the flowers.

Now that I work here my view of the market is VERY different. Sure I hate the tourists from time to time, they just seem to suck the life out if it sometimes. But nothing beats my walks in in the morning when everyone is setting up, the bakeries are pumping out the yummy smells and everyone says hi and knows if I'm on time or not! ;) I love my mornings. Nothing in the world could beat La Panier (fresh french bakery croissants) and a latte and when the lilacs and sweet peas show up, it just gets me. All of Gods treats in one place. oh man.

So today the market is 100. there's tons going on. I had a free onion pastry (La Panier!) on the way in this morning and I saw them setting up for the big production at 9:30 (they are reinacting the first farmers coming into the market today!) then at lunch we're having cake (the whole downtown corridor on my turf!) and tonight there's fireworks, live music and lots fo fun! I just cannot wait!

Happy Birthday Pike Place! I can't imagine how much I'm going to miss you in February when we move!

one of my photos from a walk I took this spring, tulips and that was the first sighting of poppies!
I took this one morning on my walk in. this is what I see EVERY morning. busy harbor, just gorgeous.

my favorite picture of all times. I took this this spring, couldn't believe how awesome it came out!
Keith and Mikayla kissing a fish from Pure Fish on our tourists in our own town morning (this was the same day we got engaged!)

Mikayla and I with Rachel the Pig. one of these days I'm going to get a picture of just me sitting on that dang pig! I'm always the one taking the pictures though!

Mikayla and one of the guys from Pure Fish. Yes they throw the fish there. ;)
