Punk kids raising punk kids...

First off, I'll just tell you that I have decided that I must have somewhere some how turned into an old cranky lady at the age of 31. I say this because I saw my mother looking over her glasses at a small child only... it was me, not mom.

Yesterday we went to the fair. We meaning Marina (Mikayla's Momma), Mikayla and me and later Keith met us. First off, Marina and I have more fun together and it just shouldn't be, but it is. deal with it. We both have an undying passion for good junkie fair food, country music, and the kiddo. ok, done. Secondly the four of us get along even better, even weirder I know but that's the way it is... I figure it's awesome for Mikayla and I'm far from miserable so it's a good thing.

I'll set the stage. The four of us were waiting (and waiting) in line for the bumper cars, Mikayla wouldn't be swayed no matter how slow the line went, we had decided it would be our last ride, and it was about 40 minutes before the fair was going to close and Marina and I hadn't had our proper end of the fair sugar (funnel cake and strawberry shortcake respectively) so we were stressed that the line was taking too long, while still trying to "have fun"

There were these three little boys behind us all by themselves, no adults, I'd say they were 7, 5, and maybe 4? little boys with spikey hair, just beating on each other, pushing each other into other people (mostly me) acting crazy because little boys just shouldn't have to wait in long lines like that at a fair especially when they're probably up to their ears in kid crack (sugar) and starting school tomorrow. The boys bumped into me, stepped on my flip flop feet a couple times and I finally turned around and gave them the "eye" like only my mother can do. She would have been proud. I didn't say anything, just gave them complete eye contact until they looked away. fast forward a couple minutes and they're doing it again, bumping into me, etc. and I said something to Keith and he turned around and had a chat with them, totally sounded like a coach, hey, chill out, that kinda thing. Couple minutes later and they are STILL going crazy, the little one bumped into me so hard that I almost lost my footing, I did bump into Keith I think. I turned around with all intention to scare these boys into settling down (yeah I'm SO scary) and I said Knock it off NOW! I've had enough. Well that put the little one into freak out mode and he scurried off to his mom. (I'm using a little m here because you have to earn the big one) a couple seconds later mom comes to talk to me, I turned around to see her and she said "THE BOYS ARE JUST TRYING TO HAVE FUN" WHAT? are you kidding me? I politely told her that we've been dealing with her kids for the last 15 minutes acting up and that I was trying to enjoy myself as well and then she repeated it "THE BOYS ARE JUST TRYING TO HAVE FUN" Keith stepped in and told her that it was numerous times and that I had finally had enough but this lady would not be swayed. She was going to make sure that her kids had a good time annoying everyone there. Keith finally told her to let it go and we just ignored them and he put himself in the back where the boys wouldn't dare mess with him. But that mom stood there and glared at us until we got on the ride.

Can I just say I cannot imagine having THE GALL! If my child was bothering someone I would be apologetic, I would be horrified that they couldn't keep control while I wasn't there watching them, I would make sure my kid missed his turn on that ride for being such a snot, I certainly wouldn't act like my kids were entitled to have all the fun they want at any cost. WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO!!!

I guess I'm just old.
