The Black Eye...

Sunday we had our first co-ed softball practice. We had a TON of fun getting out on a nice day and getting a little fresh air! We had a great turnout and I think it was a great first practice.

The crummy part was at the end of practice. We were all playing around, Mikayla was begging all day to play some catch so the group obliged. Well, she missed one. It tipped off her glove and whacked her right at the bottom of her eye socket.

It immediately puffed up and we knew it was going to be a shiner. We got her home and got some ice on it to bring down the swelling a little. Mom and Dad came over for dinner and we played yahtzee (which Mikayla won by the way, that kid is a yahtzee SHARK!). We put her to bed with a little swelling and some color already showing.

Monday morning she came in to hang out with me but only after sitting in front of the mirror for a bit. It's definitely a black eye. She came in and said "I don't have a black eye, it's only a little purple!" so cute. one more thing adults say that makes no sense right? Well after talking to her for a while and calming her down (she wants to know how to get rid of it, how fast it will go away, etc) we got up and ready and headed to pick up Linda.

We grabbed Linda and made our way to JoAnne's which I don't suggest on a holiday. It was INSANE! we got fabric for a project for my friend who is bringing home their new kiddo from China soon (they're making a 100 patch quilt, everyone is asked to send a 10" x 10" square that represents them) we had a blast with the project. Mikayla picked out tinkerbell fabric (shocker), we got Keith baseball fabric and I picked out the best boldest red quilting fabric and I'm ironing on a fleur de lis iron on that we picked up. it's going to look fabulous! We also got fabric to make Mikayla an Easter dress (my first project BY MYSELF!)

We then headed out and met Leah at Third Place Books. Man I love that place. We had lunch, looked at books and found THIS:

It's the most amazing pop up book about fairies! Mikayla just fell in love with it. I didn't buy it at the bookstore so my project is to find it (hopefully on ebay!) so wish me luck!

We had a great three day weekend! Hope you did too!
