I have been to MANY family funerals, memorial services and internments. I have however never been a pallbearer. And I didn't know I was going to be until we got there. Ummmmm. no time to worry about "how I feel about this" just time to honor Grandma by doing what was asked. And you know what? I'm very glad I did it.
All of the cousins, Kristen, Andy and I and then Rob, Niki and Jim. It was really nice to do something just the 6 of us. You know what else was nice? I have great family. amazing family.
Here's the spray right before it was put on the casket. I don't think anyone was up to taking pictures after this.
The service was short and simple, very beautiful. We sang a few more hymns and we all placed a rose on her casket as they lowered it down. I think it was right about there that everything hit. Bittersweet.
We all loaded up and then headed to Aunt Dewey's but on the way we had the PLEASURE of swinging past the house my grandfather built and we then drove right past Husky Deli.
All of you Seattle Mom bloggers, this was all BLOCKS from the method house. My dad's stomping grounds!
We all decided we were going to schedule a big trip this summer out to Spud fish and chips, then a drive past some of the old haunts and we'll end up at Husky Deli for the best ice cream ever.
