What I did last night instead of working on my project...

Sorry, the project will have to wait until tonight as last night I was completely way too busy to think about it.

Last night at AWANA I had 9 girls in my tribe. Instead of my normal 5. That was absolutely insane. Especially since I'm dealing with specific behavior issues from a couple of the girls. What touched me about that time last night though is that one of the girls brought a friend a couple weeks ago and she has really fallen in love with club. She came last night with two sections (memorized verses and workbook work) and she was just so excited! That is SO why I do this! I love my girls, I love the relationship that gets built throughout the year and I LOVE watching them learn God's word!

Ok, on the the fun stuff. So last night was the missionary shower that we hold once a year and this year the missionary was MY MOM! while not a traditional missionary she works with an organization called Support 7. Some of you know what this is, some of you have a general idea. I'll give you a quick overview.

Support 7 works with the Lynnwood Fire Department (I think also with Fire District One which is most of Snohomish county but don't quote me on that one) and is tied in with the Chaplains. Support 7 has an RV that they bring out to scenes (be it a house fire, a police standoff, accidental drownings, etc) to take care of family and friends (and fireman, fbi, and police) affected by the situation. The scenerio my mom ran to the girls is, If you house caught on fire would you take the time to get dressed and put your shoes on or would you just run outside. And when you ran outside in your barefeet and pajamas wouldn't you like to sit in the RV with a cup of hot cocoa while people figured out where you were going to go for the night (instead of the back of a cop car which is the norm) anyway... My mom loves working with support 7 and had a blast telling the girls about some situations they've been able to help with etc. They aren't there to share God's word with people they're there to show God's love by helping people in crisis with a cup of coffee, a hug, a kind word, or rescuing fish from an aquarium. yep God's love takes on all kinds of actions!

So the girls were brought in small groups to see the RV, here a few of them are listening to EVERY word out of mom's mouth (what a novel concept, I never learned that one)
I don't know what Annie is doing, and I don't want to (she's the one with her hands in her mouth).
Here's all the girls with mom in front of the RV.
And the must have goof shot. Man, my mom can throw down the goofy face!
Here mom tells them all about some of the interesting things she's seen while in service. FBI standoffs with one of America's most wanted, accidental drowning at Edmonds beach, you name it. The girls were so QUIET!

And the coolest part of the night??? The chums raised 137$ for gas for the Support 7 rig! Isn't that great! Mom and I took the rig back to the firestation last night and the firemen that we talked to were so excited for her! By the way, the Lynnwood fire department is a great spot! The guys were super nice and the facility is so perfect!
