My Mom is so old that she gets a party... part 1

My Mother, the most wonderful woman in the world, who taught me everything I know and who I would be nothing without (is the suck up making you barf yet?) is having a very very large birthday this year.

So big we're having a dang BLOWOUT!

I've been waiting for this for a while, wait for it... I get to plan a party with my sisters help. There is nothing I would rather do as she and I have the same eye for things, we both know what our Mom likes (keep it simple but make it cute! oh and keep the costs down dang it!)

The party is in August and I have the place, the invitations are in the work, Mom handed over a guest list before she left on her spledid vacation and we're off!

Greg and Niki are responsible for the slide show and Niki and I are doing day of set up (with help from some of my Mom's bestest, coolest, most wonderful friends!)

I'm having fun with the theme, the goodies, the giveaways, the invites oh and the new shiny super cool blog just for my Mom!

check it out at http://www.lindasturning60.blogspot.com/

I just got the logo from my designer friend, let me know what you think!

We're going gidget meets a cocktail/mocktail soiree, any fab ideas out there?
My favorite couple of elements thus far?

Orange table cloths with hot pink dahlia bouquets from the market
The color matching watermelon and cantelope fruit skewers I will be making
The secret suprise gift I've come up with to once and for all show my Mom how much she means to me (as if you could do that with a gift)
The fact that my sister and her wonderful family (which really means my neice) are all coming up for the shindig!

Would love some ideas, decor, punch recipes, cool cute food ideas?

I love the layout on the birthday blog! How much fun is THAT?!? I am SO darn sad that I will be in Seattle until 8/5 and missing the party and Niki. Dang it! I hope all your planning goes well.

I think we have to do bright colored margarita glasses and a signature mocktail. Watermelon or something.
